Full responsibility for the results

The step that many traders never get past is taking full responsibility for their results; to believe, at the deepest point of your being, that you — not the market, nor the news, nor the broker — are fully responsible for your success and your failure.

Why the mind flees responsibility

When you place even the smallest amount of responsibility on the market — to give you money or to stop your losses — you turn it in your mind into an opponent or an enemy, and so you trade against a force you imagine is pursuing you. The hidden means of escaping responsibility is random, unplanned trading, because if there is no plan then it cannot be said that you broke it.
