Discipline and sticking to the plan

Between the signal and correct execution stands discipline: the ability to do what you planned despite what you feel in the moment. Discipline is not harsh severity, but a bridge you cross from old beliefs that betray you to new ones that serve you.

The mechanical stage

Douglas suggests you pass through a mechanical stage: you set a precise set of rules that define your edge, your entry, your exit and your risk, then you commit to them literally over a sample of trades without exception. The goal is not to win every trade, but to prove that you are capable of executing without interference from the emotions of the moment.
