The key candle and the line of defence

Within every base there is one candle that deserves the most attention; we call it the key candle. It is the key to setting the zone’s boundaries and defining its line of defence.

What is the key candle?

The key candle is the last candle in the base before the surge, and it is usually a small-bodied candle opposite to the direction of the exit (a red one before a rise, or a green one before a fall). On it the proximal edge is drawn, and from the extreme of its wick the line of defence (the distal edge) is drawn, representing the zone’s last stronghold.
