The Dark Cloud and the Piercing Line

These are two opposite two-candle patterns, milder than the Engulfing because the second candle penetrates the first’s body past its midpoint without fully engulfing it.

The shape

• The Dark Cloud Cover — at the end of an uptrend: a rising candle, then a falling candle that closes below the midpoint of the previous rising candle’s body.
• The Piercing Line — at the end of a downtrend: a falling candle, then a rising candle that closes above the midpoint of the previous falling candle’s body.
